Delivery driver left probiotics in 100 degree F heat and inside the bottle it was in the 90s

Delivery driver left in hot sun when I have an obvious package area under the stoop that is all shaded. He/she didn’t want to go up 3 short steps. The company who makes these never contacted me and I called, emailed them more than a couple times. The probiotics are no good. Not when heated to almost 100F. They should not be returned but so far I have received the cost of the product, refund from Amazon or NOW. NOW makes great stuff but never returned my communications at all. All you have to do is put the capsule in water overnight and see what happens with the probiotics the next morning. Mostly all dead.

    Now brands are quality.

I’ve used Now Foods products for decades. They can be trusted to manufacturer the best I started using them in 1990.

NOW is a Good Time for Probiotic Yogurt to Turn Billions into Trillions of Live Microbes

The media could not be loaded.

I buy a lot of NOW products. They are a very good value from a brand I trust to deliver exactly what’s on the label. I like how this supplement delivers 10 different probiotic species to boost my gut health.I recently learned to make powerful probiotic yogurt from the book “Super Gut”, but my yogurt maker included all the instructions and recipes needed to turn a single capsule with billions into trillions of live probiotics.I usually make my probiotic yogurt with organic half-and-half cream, which comes out rich and creamy like greek yogurt. I’ve also made it with whole milk, which is good too. Soy milk works also, but needs to be strained after or mixed with thickeners unless you like more of a kefir-like liquid consistency. When I don’t want extra calories though, I take a capsule of NOW probiotics. It’s a quality probiotic supplement.

It’s the one that works for me, even over the other very expensive brand. Grateful to have found it from a great reputable company!

    Seem to work

The goal is to get them past your stomach. You know that happened when they make your butt itchy. That’s when I dial it back.

and this has to be the best so far at least for my body

Probably my 15th different probiotic that I have purchased in the last four years, and this has to be the best so far at least for my body. First off I look for the main Lactobacillus strains and the Bifidobacterium strains. The former works on the small intestine while the latter on the large intestine. At least that’s what I’ve read. Also the quantity of 10 to 25 billion is right at where doctors recommend and also dietitians and nutritionists. The refrigeration and the opaque bottle are also a couple of things to look for. After reading a ton, no microorganism will survive for very long if it’s not refrigerated. Think of the produce and foods that we keep. If you left them out they would mold and so do most probiotic which basically end up in becoming an empty capsule. The NOW brand is one I’ve used before and trust. The number of reviews including my own verify that it is a quality, dependable product. There are other products that have bigger names out there and by the end of 2016 the probiotic market may reach close to $50 billion which is incredible. Go with a brand that you trust and meets all of the essentials. I don’t buy into the 25 strains in one pill, or the 50 billion in one capsule. I think getting the ones that have been researched for the longest amount of time in the best quality way possible you can’t miss. Just got done with a round of antibiotics for 10 days which I had to adjust when I took the probiotic as to not negate each other, but did not have any problems with tummy issues and have taken them for a week afterwards and then started to taper off to every other day until my stomach may or may not cooperate. The other reason I have high regard for this product is I’ve noticed a little boost in the immune system is other people around me are sick and I have not had much of a problem. I would ease into them if you’re not familiar with any probiotic. I also like to alternate days where I just need three servings of yogurt and the next day take this. After reading a little more you don’t want to take it with a heavy meal, but you also don’t want to take it on an empty stomach as others may suggest. About 45 minutes to an hour after a light meal is a great time to pop one of these better yet, take it with some natural prebiotic like a banana. Just Google search prebiotic foods and you’ll come up with a list of something in your kitchen. This will help benefit the probiotic without creating too much gastric acid that kills microorganisms. Everybody is different and every body is different, if you have tried others without success… What do you have to lose? I’m just happy I found one that works for me is my go to. Now our bodies will get adjusted to certain regiments so I may switch it a couple times a year, but definitely this should be in everyone’s refrigerator.

Usually a fan of Now products, but not this bottle…

Is an issue on this one. I use Now for a lot of my supps, usually don’t have an issue, can throw the bottle in my backpack and take it along with me. However, for some reason, the bottle (really the top) they use for this specific product never stays sealed. Once it’s opened for the 1st time, it never fully latches shut again. I always forget and throw this in my bag with other bottles only to find it emptied out. Please, make the caps on these closeable like all of your other products that I buy and love from you guys (lysine, glutathione, NAC, etc).

YEAST or not YEAST? Celiacs and Candida Folks Beware!

Regrettably, I believe this product was greatly helping me; however, I had an allergic reaction and once I had it nailed down to a supplement or supplements, I had to contact all the suspect supplements’ companies. The person who responded to me was a bit condescending, but that’s neither here nor there, particularly since I cannot risk using the product anymore. Now’s representative quoted me the law according to what allergens they are to put on their label and hid behind words like ‘proprietary ingredients’. He proceeded to say he could neither confirm nor deny the presence of yeast in their product and that if there was any, that it was less than what one would find in things like bread, wine, etc., which he assumed I was staying away from……….rude much? Once I emailed a second time and listed the lengthy and awful allergic reactions I was enduring even after stopping all suspect supplements until I could receive confirmation from the manufacturers, he then advised me to stop taking their product, but again reiterated he could neither confirm nor deny the presence of yeast. Quite a shame. I cannot risk taking Now any longer. I will stick with companies such as Thorne, Kirkman, Houston, Omegavia, (and after a lengthy email between myself and Organic India, I am adding Organic India’s Ashwagandha), who are capable of properly labeling/answering about their products as having yeast or not having yeast. Either a company is in the market of keeping its customers safe and informed or it is a company who hides behind the law, does the minimum, and hides behind words like proprietary ingredients. Last I checked I don’t have a chem lab in my kitchen nor do I have any interest in stealing a company’s secret recipe, but I do have a right to know what is in my supplements (a good reputable company knows this and doesn’t do the minimum and hide behind the law), I just need to take the proper supplements to treat my numerous health issues that allopathic doctors fail at miserably, but I don’t want to lose patches of hair, have headaches for weeks at a time, ear pressure and pain and hearing loss due to the pain/swelling, major eye pain/allergies, leaky bladder, leaky bowels, surging pain to the point I cannot stand to lay down, two months of insomnia (something I’m still enduring, fell asleep at 7:30 this morning, can you imagine?), massive brain fog (hmmm, wonder why), and I’m sure I’m forgetting something I’ve endured. I suppose I’m supposed to be grateful the leaky bowels stopped a few days ago. Woo hoo. Ironically, we don’t even know if this particular product is even a culprit of my major massive allergic reaction or not, but I can make a guess that since I was advised by the representative to not take the supplement (ya think???), that there is clearly a risk of yeast.. I’ve researched a Celiac being unknowingly ‘glutened’ (via yeast in my case) (confirmed for sure for one of Jarrow’s products) and it can take me anywhere from months to a couple years to recover, so imagine my facial expression when reading Now’s representative’s email quoting me the law and words like ‘proprietary ingredients’.Here’s the irony. Many folks take a probiotic for Candida, which I have as well (of course I do). This company knows customers take it for this purpose, the representative orginally ‘assumed’ I was referring to having a Candida issue rather than an allergic issue in my first email aka his referral to there being a minute amount of yeast in the product if any and surely being less than bread, cheese, wine, etc. Say what? Please tell me a company is not knowingly selling a product to customers who are treating their Candida and the company doesn’t even know if there is yeast in the product??? Am I in the twilight zone or does this truly not make any sense????My functional medicine doc told me to take a probiotic and digestive enzymes. I shall continue. I just got in my new probiotic – Kirkman’s Pro-Bio Gold. It’s 20 billion CFU’s per capsule. My doc wants me taking 50 billion CFU’s a day, so I’ll take two a day to get as close to that as possible. I just started taking Kirkman Biofilm Defense – it’s supposed to help break down the barrier the Candida forms, which is necessary since a Jarrow product and apparently this product fed yeast to my candida for quite some time before the allergic reaction built up in my system enough for me to have time to determine what was going on. Once I go through a bottle or two of the Kirkman’s Biofilm Defense enzymes, I’ll change over to Houston’s digestive enzymes, they’re known to help combat an episode of being glutened. If you are needing a place to start………having your doctor run a Cyrex Array 3 and a Cyrex Array 4 will test for Celiac disease as well as cross reactives to gluten per Dr. Perlmutter’s Grain Brain book (it is fabulous, btw). Yeast is just as bad and dangerous for me as eating a piece wheat bread. I had to go to a functional integrative doctor who does not accept insurance to get properly treated. I wish you the best if you are trying to get proper treatment for things such as adrenal dysfunction, food allergies, thyroid dysfunction, and Celiac disease through a regular doctor. My allopathic doctors missed all the warning signs for 4 decades.I would advise you to pull up a company’s web site, while making decisions on what to order on Amazon. For example, Thorne’s site is fabulous on telling you what you need to know about a product, then I order from Amazon. Also, research a product’s ingredients. Know what they are before you take something. Is it a necessary ingredient? Is there a better choice without the ingredient? If so, go for the better choice.Word to the wise ~ a supplement company who thinks a minute amount of something is safe for all people is not knowledgeable nor responsible. No more Now products for me.

Does what it needs to do

In my experience probiotic supplements don’t do much if you’re already consuming enough probiotics, but are great for maintaining the probiotic levels. If you feel gassy or bloated after starting a probiotic, in my experience that means it’s working and it’ll subside after a few days of continuing its use.

Look folks, this is all you need to know about if a Probiotic is working plain and simple and not stupid milk test that is unreliable, you will notice when you pass gas it WILL NOT SMELL, Nor will your bowl movements at all. , that’s how you know the probiotics is breaking your food down properly . And working. That’s It!! Take two if you have to and REMEMBER, THEY DON’T WORK WELL UNLESS YOU TAKE IT IN AN EMPTY STOMACH. Your welcome!!

Making homemade yogurt with NOW Probiotic-10 capsules

I have been making my own yogurt for the past couple of months. I felt that there had to be a better way to make it, than having to keep buying yogurt from the store as my starter, so I first experimented with NOW Acidophilus Two Billion Capsules. I can’t remember exactly how many I used. . . maybe 4 or 5 capsules, but after 24 hours in my incubator the yogurt tasted great, but was still quite thin, so I bought this Probiotic-10 25 billion, and now I am making a most wonderful and flavorful yogurt.I use 1 Probiotic-10 capsule, and 2 Acidophilus Two Billion Capsules. I don’t know that I have to use the Acidophilus, but I have 2 large bottles of it, so I’m using it for every batch.I have a precision water cooker and a Styrofoam minnow bucket to make my yogurt in. I pour a ½ gallon of whole milk into a zip lock freezer bag, place it in the minnow bucket and heat the milk to 180°. I pour out the hot water, and run cold tap water over the zip lock bag of milk until is it roughly body temperature. I open it up, and pour the contents of 1 Probiotic-10 capsule, and 2 Acidophilus 2 billion capsules into the bag of milk. Zip it back up and shake it to disperse the bacteria through out. I then set the water cooker to 114°f and leave it incubate for roughly 12 hours.I line a colander with paper towels, and pour the yogurt/whey mixture into the colander, catching the whey in a pan below the colander. I let it drain for about 1 hour. I’ve let it drain in the refrigerator overnight, to make a Greek style yogurt, but I found that the yogurt was too thick and dry for my liking, so now I retain a bit of whey in the yogurt, thereby giving it a creamier texture.I use the whey for the liquid in making homemade bread. It really changes the bread dough from what I am accustomed to. The flavor reminds me of almost a sour dough kind of flavor. . .but that’s another story.I am really very much enjoying making my own yogurt this way. It is wonderful tasting, healthful, and quite economical also. . . a win win win situation as far as I am concerned.I highly recommend the NOW Probiotic-10 capsules for yogurt making at home.**************************************************************I thought I would add to my review, after reading people’s concerns about the potency of this product, and it not being shipped in a refrigerated container. I last bought Probiotic-10 over two years ago. As above, I use it to make homemade yogurt. I keep the Probiotic-10 in the freezer, and it is still making great yogurt after 2 years.

Finally A Probiotic That Is Effective With No Uncomfortable Side Effects

I can’t recall ever writing a review but I definitely make many of my buying decisions after reading reviews! So I decided to share my experience with this probiotic in hopes that it might help you make a decision.I am a firm believer in gut health. It’s been proven many illnesses and diseases can be eradicated if your gut is healthy. For the most part, I am a very healthy 44 year old. I take zero prescriptions, I have a diet that mostly omits white flours & sugars and I am only overweight by 15-20lbs (which I am working on losing but birthing 7 children takes its toll on anyone!).For my entire life, I have had constipation issues. I remember when I was young, maybe 8 or 9, my mom would use a suppository for me. I distinctly remember the dark blue bottle of wax sticks kept in the refrigerator. My poop tended to be hard rocks and I was not regular. I was always thin and active growing up (runner, weight lifter) but would always have constipation regardless. My diet was not great and I ate lots of carbs. But I would burn those off with how active I was and because I was young. Fast forward to my 30’s and after a handful of pregnancies and now I have to take a supplement daily just to stay regular. I was taking Nature’s Secret Super Cleanse every night. It worked great but after taking it for years I wanted to see if I could stop. After some trial and error with my diet I have been able to quit taking the Super Cleanse for about 4 months now, but on occasion will take it if I get constipated.Moving on to this probiotic…. I tried taking a Jarrow probiotic but it made me gassy and wasn’t even effective in at least keeping me regular, so I decided to give this one a try after reading the great reviews. It was affordable and I’ve tried many NOW brand supplements before. I’ve been taking it for about a week and I am AMAZED! I am regular and I have zero side effects (gas, bloat, etc.) that can come from some probiotics. And here’s a little too much information but some of you might appreciate… my solid waste is exactly of the shape and consistency/bulk that it is supposed to be of a healthy person. When I excrete the waste I can honestly say that my bowels are CLEAR. Previously, I would never feel quite that complete relief so I do know the difference. And I’ve even lost 1 lb since taking these which I believe was probably build up. YUCK!So if you’re thinking about trying these, do it! You only have $13 to lose and if they work well think of the health you have to gain!

Very Effective Probiotic at a Great Price

I have been buying this brand from Amazon for over a year. I was looking for a product that had a variety of beneficial bacterial strains, and I specifically wanted a dairy-free formula with vegetarian (non-gelatin) capsules.I was excited to find these, as a bottle of 50 is literally half the price I was paying for the same quantity of a popular commercial brand (rhymes with “vulture smell”) that we used to use.My spouse and I each take one capsule daily, and have experienced improved bowel function as well as fewer colds and infections. it is the one supplement we never forget to take, because it makes us feel so much better. The capsules are small and easy to swallow as well.My favorite thing about these capsules is that they make amazing soy yogurt! I used to buy soy yogurt starter, but now I just use one of these capsules in a quart of soymilk. I put the soymilk in a quart mason jar, empty the probiotic capsule into it, shake it up, and let it culture for 10-12 hours in my Instant Pot. It works beautifully. As another reviewer mentioned, the yogurt is on the tart side, and you may need to strain it or add thickeners if you like thicker yogurt, but the same could be said of the expensive starter I used to use. I always strain my yogurt by placing it in a colander lined with a large coffee filter, and letting the liquid drip out until it is as thick as I want.I have ordered these during all seasons of the year, including the heat of summer, and have always found them to be potent. I have no concerns about the lack of refrigeration during shipping, because I feel that if it were an issue, my yogurt would not turn out as great as it does! That said, I do keep the bottle in the refrigerator once I receive it.

As far as probiotics go I have tried quite a few and am very happy with these. I am not a nutritionist but these really do seem to work well. This brand “NOW” is very reputable and offers great products at great prices. They are not the cheapest you can buy but they are worth every penny. They are just as potent as other high priced probiotiscs and more potent than most. I’ll continue to use these to help my overall health.
